Travel Light This Holiday Season

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Many of you are in the midst of holiday travel, so we though we would offer you a few tips on traveling light. It’s very easy this time of year to pack for a trip and end up with huge heavy suit cases. ‘Tis the season for warmer clothes!

First and foremost, pick a color scheme for your shoes & bag. Obvious choices would be black, brown, gray, or a metallic. They are neutral and can easily be paired with a variety of clothing. Once you have your color scheme, plan your clothing accordingly to coordinate back to your shoes & handbag.

The second tip, which is probably a tad less obvious, would be to choose warmer layers with less bulk. For example, choose a thin cashmere blend tee instead of a thick yarn sweater. The thin cashmere blend tee will likely provide you with the same amount of warmth (maybe more), yet it will take up less space in your luggage and be lighter to carry.

Last but not least, we love to mix and match. If you can change around the pieces you chose to create a few different outfits, you will be amazed with what a small bag you can get away with. Or you can pack the bigger bag and save room for new things you buy will you are away!

Accessorize For Your Holiday Party

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Most women have an abundance of holiday parties to attend this time of year, so we are here to help you make dressing for it a bit easier and less expensive. You don’t necessarily need to a buy a new dress!

Split Neck Dress By KershIf you have that perfect little black dress in your closet, we say bring it out and accessorize it. By changing your accessories, you can create a whole new look out of a black dress, or any simple neutral colored dress. This dress by Kersh is the perfect example of what we are talking about. Your first item to choose are your shoes. Pair your simple dress with a great pair of colored metallic heels, or perhaps a red pump. These are just a few suggestions but feel free to use your imagination.

Kyanite Earrings By Tracy MatthewsNext, pick out some great pieces of jewelry that coordinate back to your shoes. So let’s say you are doing a great metallic blue shoe, pair it with these great Tracy Matthews Kyanite earrings. You will look simple and pulled together. Finish your look with a great bag to coordinate. I like the idea of a clutch.

The great part about accessorizing a basic dress is that your options are truly are endless. You can go with any color palette and totally change the look. Even better, you can wear the same dress to every party!

Great Basics

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Every wardrobe should have certain basics including a black skirt. Frankly, I think you should have a short one and a mid-length or longer black skirt.

The good news is XCVI just created the Austere Skirt and it’s a great basic with a funky twist. It’s made of a stretch Gabardine which is great year round but warm enough for the cooler months. We love the Austere Skirt’s details of a kick pleat and flat decorative pocket.

Travel Tip: Make A List

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

In part of our holiday travel series, I am offering you a few of my favorite travel tips. Since you already know to pre-pack your toiletries, part two is making a list. Whether you do it by hand or on your computer, you should make a list of the days you are gone, and what you will need to wear each day. By doing this, you can think logically and not just starting throwing clothes in your suitcase. Then once you go in your closet, all you have to do is grab the items and put them in your bag. You won’t stand around for 4 hours deciding what to take with you. Your list should include shoes, undergarments, and accessories. Also, try to pick outfits that you can wear the same bag and shoes with at least several times. By doing this, you will save time and end up with exactly what you need when you get to your destination. Plus, it highly unlikely you will forget anything this way!

What’s Hot For Holiday…

Friday, November 16th, 2007

The holidays are almost upon us and most women are getting ready for seasonal parties and get togethers. So we thought we would share with you what the hottest looks are this season. We want you to look fabulous for all of your big events.

First and foremost, it’s all about beads or sequins. Both beads and sequins can be found on everythig from cropped jackets to dresses. You must have one dynamite piece that is either beaded or sequined, but not both. The look the season is mostly monotone. Think silver dress with gray or silver sequins. It’s glamorous, yes understated.

Next on our list are dresses with embellished necklines. The dress can be embellished with beads, sequins, or perhaps larger stones or adornments.  There are a lot of options but the placement around the neck of a dress serves several purposes. It’s draws attention to your face and eliminates the need for earrings or a necklace.

Last on the list is metallic fabrics and shoes. There are a lot of metallic fabrics out there  but perhaps more importantly are the metallic shoes. A metallic shoe can really pop a simple dress into a great night time look.

We hope these tips help you find your perfect party going outfit!
